While Taylor Sheridan’s latest neo-Western drama Landman has recently concluded its first chapter, actor Billy Bob Thornton has already given some updates regarding Season 2. The series made its small-screen debut in November last year and instantly garnered positive reviews, becoming another acclaimed show for Sheridan. As such, speculations around a second season started to surface even before the premiere of the first season’s finale. If Thornton’s latest comments are taken into consideration, a second season of Landman could be coming soon.
Billy Bob Thornton talks Landman Season 2 and explains the Coyote scene in finale
In a recent discussion, the Goliath star stated that he is extremely positive about Landman’s creators renewing the show for Season 2.
While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Billy Bob Thornton said, “The first question about season two, we don’t know officially that we’re going to have one. Usually shows that are this successful, they’d do it again. So, I can only imagine that they would, but I don’t know for sure.”
In addition to his take on Landman Season 2, Thornton also shared his opinion regarding the captivating coyote scene in Season 1’s finale. According to the veteran actor, Tommy’s encounter with the coyote forces him to contemplate his own fate in the story, where he either compares the wild animal to “the cartel” or himself. “I think it’s a very symbolic moment of Tommy trying to figure out who he is here. And I think he’s kind of staring himself, and possibly death, in the eye,” Thornton added.
At the time of writing, no official word on Landman Season 2 has come out. Nevertheless, the first season of the series, which sees Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy attempting to climb the ladder in a booming oil business, mostly brought in favorable reactions. Landman currently boasts an impressive critic score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, which could help in getting Season 2 greenlit.
