List of All 66 Macy’s Stores Closing This Year

Macy’s has revealed the list of 66 stores that are set to close this year. However, there are several more coming by 2026. The closures come as part of the retail chain’s Bold New Chapter strategy, which was previously announced in February 2024. The department store chain plans to shut down several “underproductive” Macy’s stores to prioritize their go–forward locations.

These Macy’s stores will close in 2025

The Macy’s store closure list names several prime locations across the country. This includes Broadway Plaza in Los Angeles, NewPark Mall in Newark, and Northfield Stapleton in Denver. The list also adds White Oaks Mall in Springfield, Harford Mall in Bel Air, Oak Court in Memphis, Almeda Mall in Houston, and more. The retailer has also listed several hot spots in New York, including Lake Success in New Hyde Park, Queens Place in Elmhurst, Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, and more. Some of these stores on the lengthy list are set to close by mid-year 2025.

Moreover, the going-out-of-business sale is also expected to take place in the first quarter of the year. Besides that, Macy’shas noted on their site that the stores will begin the clearance sales in January. This will run for approximately 8-12 weeks. Meanwhile, the Macy’s Backstage stores and Macy’s Furniture Galleries will begin their clearance sales in February. These are set to run for about 6 weeks. Another point worth noting is a change to the return policy. The retailer notes that any products purchased from the closing stores on or after January 13 cannot be returned or exchanged.

Macy’s shared via a press release that the Bold New Chapter strategy has been designed to return the company to sustainable and profitable sales growth. The plan includes closing down approximately 150 underproductive stores over three years. Meanwhile, the retail giant will prioritize investing in its 350 go-forward Macy’s locations.
