Wolf Man reactions praise Christopher Abbott’s performance

The recent screening of Wolf Man gave film critics and reviewers a chance to witness Whannell’s work before its release. Per its first reactions, the movie has managed to win hearts as critics laud the suspense and thrill it carries.

A member of the Critics Choice Awards and writer, Rachel Leishman suggested on X (formerly Twitter) that Wolf Man would “leave you afraid of the dark!” She added, “Watched this movie with my feet up on the air because I was terrified of what could grab my ankles. Just a suspenseful thrill from start to finish. Christopher Abbott is a star and I love him so much!”

Nick L’Barrow, the host of the Monthly Movie Marathon podcast, described Wolf Man as “a tense, straight-forward thriller that sees Christopher Abbott unleash the battle between human and animal through his strong performance!” Furthermore, Barrow lauded Garner and director Whannell for their work.

Meanwhile, creator Anthony praised the jumpscares in Wolf Man and called it “SCARY and heartwarming.” He further stated, “The prosthetics are insane, the acting is great, but the amount of times I had to close my eyes in fear/disgust is what stuck with me leaving the theater.”

Additionally, Tessa Smith, a film and TV critic from Rotten Tomatoes, emphasized the emotional aspect of the movie. She wrote on X, “Wolf Man is not just terrifying, it packs an emotional punch. I found myself jumping out of my skin and then shedding tears. The acting is top notch and the cinematography is insane.”

Wolf Man follows Blake (Christopher Abbott), who visits his home in rural Oregon. He is accompanied by his wife, Charlotte (Julia Garner), and daughter Ginger (Matilda Firth). Here, a mysterious animal attacks the family, forcing them to barricade themselves inside their farmhouse for protection. However, soon Blake starts behaving strangely. As he begins changing into something unrecognizable, it pushes Charlotte and Ginger into a game of survival.
