Amy Santiago Actress Reveals Why a Brooklyn Nine-Nine Revival Is Unlikely

Melissa Fumero is known to many sitcom fans for playing Amy Santiago on the hit series Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Recently, she revealed her thoughts on a potential revival of the show and why she’s doubtful about one happening.

Starring Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher, the first season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine aired in 2013. An immediate hit, the show won Golden Globes for Best Television Series and Best Actor. The hugely popular series went on to run for seven more seasons before finally coming to an end in 2021.

Melissa Fumero reveals they ‘all played with the idea’ of a Brooklyn Nine-Nine revival but it’s unlikely to happen

Speaking with Screen Rant about Season 2 of her show Based on a True Story, Melissa Fumero touched on her thoughts about a potential revival of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

While Fumero stated that the cast misses working with each other, she added that the show is unlikely to come back without Andre Braugher. She told the outlet, “We’ve definitely all played with the idea, and we definitely all miss each other so much, and miss spending our days together. I don’t think we could ever do it, though, without Andre, so I don’t know that that would happen.”

Furthermore, the actress asserted that she wishes “to work in other things with everyone.”

Braugher was a key part of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, playing the role of Captain Raymond Holt. He was nominated for four Primetime Emmys for his performance over the show’s run and won two Critics’ Choice Television Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Sadly, after the conclusion of the sitcom in 2021, Braugher died of lung cancer on December 11, 2023.

In March 2024, the whole cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine reunited and remembered Braugher. Fumero shared an image of the cast members on Instagram and wrote, “We laughed. We cried a little. We reminisced. We laughed some more. Nine Nine Forever.”
