A recent rumor has suggested that Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink could be up for a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mutants and the X-Men have been slowly introduced into the MCU through multiple projects but have been slated to take a much larger role in the future of the franchise, with Sink reportedly being eyed to be a major part of it.
Marvel rumor suggests Sadie Sink is frontrunner for X-Men’s Jean Grey
According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, Sadie Sink could soon make her Marvel debut as the iconic X-men character Jean Grey.
Sneider shared the rumor in the latest edition of his newsletter. In his report, Sneider stated, “I’m hearing that Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is being eyed to play Jean Grey in the Marvel Cinematic Universal.” He also added, “Kevin Feige soon plans to introduce a new iteration of the X-Men.”
Sneider claimed that the casting has yet to receive an official review from MCU executives. However, he also revealed that the news of Sink’s inclusion came from the same source that updated him on the cast for the upcoming Beatles movie six months before the news became official.
Sneider then explained why Sadie Sink’s casting as Jean Grey makes sense for Marvel Studios. He remarked, “Not only does Sink have the right look for Jean Grey with her long, red hair, but Stranger Things is one of the biggest shows in the world.” Moreover, with Stranger Things concluding its five-season run next year, Sink, who will be in high demand in 2025 due to the hit series, will be more likely to be open to taking on another long contract.
While Marvel has yet to share any concrete updates on an X-Men movie, casting for Avengers 5 is currently underway. Per Sneider, the Russo brothers could look to introduce a select number of mutants in Doomsday, such as Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey, before Marvel comes up with a standalone film for them.
Despite all the promising factors, Sink’s addition to the MCU remains only a rumor at the moment.
