Rumor: Spider-Man 4’s Villain Could Be Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto

A new report suggests that actor Sacha Baron Cohen might join the cast of Spider-Man 4 as the villain Mephisto. Fans have been constantly waiting for the extradimensional demon to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years. Mephisto was recently name-dropped in Episode 3 of the Kathryn Hahn series, Agatha All Along. Thus, there is a curiosity among the masses regarding the villain appearing soon.

New rumor suggests Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto will be in Spider-Man 4

In his recently released newsletter, industry insider Jeff Sneider stated that Marvel might’ve got Sacha Baron Cohen on board in the role of Mephisto.

However, Sneider added in The InSneider that the chances of The Dictator star appearing in Spider-Man 4 are generally low. This is because his source claimed that the actor’s schedule will be packed in 2025. He stated in his newsletter, “One of my sources cast doubt on this, saying that SBC has a top-secret Universal movie due out next year, which he’ll have to promote at some point.”

Sneider also questioned the idea of introducing Cohen as Mephisto in the 2025 Disney+ series, Ironheart. He added, “But would Marvel really cast an actor as big as SBC in a role as big as Mephisto just to waste him in the second-tier Disney+ series Ironheart? I don’t think so…”

The insider further added that according to him, Marvel head Kevin Feige is preparing to have Cohen’s Mephisto as “the primary villain in this new Spider-Man movie.” However, Jeff Sneider did mention that nothing regarding the rumor has been confirmed by Marvel.

As reported by SuperHeroHype before, in November, Marvel TV Head Brad Winderbaum was asked about Mephisto’s debut in Ironheart. However, he didn’t reveal much and said, “I wish I could tell you.”

Starring Tom Holland in the titular role, Spider-Man 4 is set to release in July 2025.
