Jim Carrey reveals the main reason for his Sonic 3 return
Jim Carrey recently had a short interaction with the Associated Press at an event where he talked about why he came back to do Sonic 3 after previously saying he would retire. “You know, I came back to this universe because, first of all, I get to play a genius. Which is a bit of a stretch.” He further stated that financial reasons led him to take on the role and said, “It’s just I bought a lot of stuff, and I need the money, frankly.”
While talking to Access Hollywood in 2022 during the promotions of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Carrey said, “I’m retiring. Yeah, probably. I’m being fairly serious. It depends.” He also asserted that if a script comes to him in the future “that’s written in gold ink” and is essential to share with the public, he might consider returning. “I really like my quiet life and I really love my spiritual life. I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough,” he added.
Carrey previously starred in the first two Sonic the Hedgehog movies as Dr. Robotnik. He received critical acclaim for his performances in the movies and it is now widely regarded as one of his most beloved characters. The franchise, which is based on the popular video game of the same name, has been a massive commercial success.
