Chris Stapleton forgot to thank his wife, Morgane, in his acceptance speech

According to Taste of Country, Chris Stapleton apologized to his wife, Morgane Stapleton, while receiving the Song of the Year trophy because he had earlier forgotten to thank her during the winning speech for Single of the Year. The musician won the two accolades for his song “White Horse.” After winning the Single of the Year, Chris arrived on stage along with several collaborators. However, Morgane was back in the crowd despite being a contributor to her husband’s music.

Later, during his speech for his second win, Chris said, “I really am taken aback. Thank you so much for this. I owe my wife an apology.” He continued, “That last award also belonged to her.” Chris explained that “it just happened so fast” and that he “really owe a lot to her” for his music. He also thanked Morgane for her support.

At the 2024 CMA Awards, Chris and Morgane took the stage to perform a duet rendition of “What Am I Gonna Do.” The singer won big as he even swept the Male Vocalist of the Year trophy at the award show. Moreover, Chris took part in the tribute to the legendary country singer George Strait when he received the 2024 Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. Meanwhile, the lineup of star-studded performers included Kelsea Ballerini, Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, Eric Church, and more.
