Ella Emhoff shares throwback photos of what she wore to CFDA Awards
Ella Emhoff, Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter, took to Instagram to share a new carousel of throwback photos from her attendance at the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards. The fashion designer captioned the post, “Ok I’m finally getting around to posting this.” Emhoff shared that she went to the CFDA awards with Coach to honor Stuart Vevers, the brand’s creative director, and Coachtopia’s focus on sustainable crafting. She added, “They turned me into a recycled yarn princess.”
At the CFDA event, Emhoff wore a fuzzy gray camisole top, which was paired with a plaid maxi skirt. The outfit was eye-catching as the front of the skirt also featured a giant fur bow. InStyle reported that Coach curated Emhoff’s fuzzy top in collaboration with a New York artisan. Besides that, the voluminous skirt was made out of deadstock fabric.
Coachtopia is a collaborative lab for innovation within Coach. It was founded with a mission to help advance a circular fashion system. Emhoff’s participation with the brand’s attendance at the CFDA event was no surprise as she has been vocal about her commitment to sustainability. Previously, the fashion designer also walked the runway during Coach’s Ready-to-Wear Spring/Summer 2025 fashion show as part of New York Fashion Week.
After Ella Emhoff shared the new Instagram post, several followers rushed to the comments section to gush over her outfit. One commenter attested, “We all know you were already a recycled yarn princess.” Another user wrote, “Girl that is CUTE! Love your outfit.”
