UK PM Keir Starmer Congratulates Donald Trump for ‘Historic Win’

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Keir Starmer, has sent his congratulations to Donald Trump after he secured victory in the 2024 presidential election. Starmer commended the Republican candidate on his political comeback and “historic” return to the White House. On Wednesday, Starmer took to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle to post a congratulatory note for Trump.

U.K. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer congratulated Donald Trump on securing a “historic” victory in the 2024 presidential election. Tagging Trump, Starmer’s note began with, “Congratulations President-elect Trump on your historic election victory.” He then expressed his enthusiasm to work with Trump in the upcoming years. The note read, “I look forward to working with you in the years ahead.”

The U.K. prime minister further wrote, “As the closest of allies, we stand shoulder to shoulder in defence of our shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise.” Sir Keir Starmer also mentioned the “special relationship” between the United Kingdom and the United States. He concluded the congratulatory note by stating, “From growth and security to innovation and tech, I know that the UK-US special relationship will continue to prosper on both sides of the Atlantic for years to come.”

David Lammy, the Foreign Secretary of the U.K., has also congratulated Donald Trump on winning the presidential election and ensuring his political comeback. On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “The UK has no greater friend than the US.” Lammy continued, “With the special relationship being cherished on both sides of the Atlantic for more than 80 years.” He added, “We look forward to working with you and @JDVance in the years ahead.”

Trump has become the first former president to make a comeback to the White House in over 130 years after defeating Democrat Kamala Harris in the election.
