Donald Trump has won the 2024 U.S. election, becoming the 47th President of the United States. Trump surpassed 270 Electoral College votes in the early hours of November 6, beating Democratic rival Kamala Harris.
Trump will return to the White House after serving as president between 2017 and 2021. During a victory speech ahead of the official announcement, Trump said that there has “never been like this” in the U.S.
“We are going to fix our borders,” Trump said. “We are going to fix everything about our country. We made history for a reason tonight, and the reason is going to be just that. We overcame obstacles that nobody thought possible, and it is now clear that we’ve achieved the most incredible political thing. Look what happened. Isn’t this crazy?”
While votes are still being counted, Trump’s victory is being considered a landslide. At the time of this writing, he has 277 Electoral Votes compared to Harris’ 224, with 51% of the popular vote.
