Donald Trump Calls Himself ’47th President’ in Early Victory Speech

On Wednesday, former president Donald Trump addressed a crowd at a victory party in Florida, calling himself the “47th President.” As the 2024 presidential election draws to a close with neck-to-neck poll results, Trump nears his goal of taking office again. He even announced his victory in a speech in front of his supporters ahead of the final results. While sources have yet to announce a winner, the Republican candidate will likely defeat Kamala Harris to hold office for the next four years. Wins in Pennsylvania, among other swing states, brought him one step closer to the White House.

NBC News reported that Donald Trump declared himself victorious over Kamala Harris in the race for president during a victory party as the counting for the 2024 election continued. In his speech, Trump announced, “I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president.” He also reminded the audience of his previous term at the Oval Office as the 45th president. The party happened at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in Florida, where his family, running mate JD Vance, and others joined him on stage.

Trump called his MAGA campaign and imminent reelection as president “a movement like no one has ever seen before.” He added, “Frankly, I believe this was the greatest political movement of all time” before discussing his potential return to the White House. He also emphasized the “new level of importance” of his feat over Kamala Harris “because we are going to help our country heal.”

According to Fox News, former president Donald Trump also brought up the two assassination attempts on him in the months leading up to the elections in his victory speech. He stated that people often told him “God spared my life for a reason,” claiming this “reason was to save our country and to restore America to greatness.” The politician assured his supporters, “Now we are going to fulfill that mission together,” promising to “bring every ounce of energy, spirit, and fighting” to complete the job in front of him.

Donald Trump’s win in Pennsylvania was reportedly crucial in his race for president against Kamala Harris, who took California and New York among other Democratic-inclined states. Georgia and North Carolina were among other swing state victories for the Republican candidate.
