Selena Gomez Has Advice for Voters Queuing up in Long Lines

Selena Gomez shared an important piece of advice for citizens queuing up in long lines to vote during the 2024 U.S. elections, which were held on November 5. As people across the country headed out to cast their ballots, several celebrities took to social media to share messages and also to show off their “I Voted” stickers. Meanwhile, the results have started to come in for some of the key states, and there’s a tight presidential race between the candidates — Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump.

Selena Gomez encourages voters to stay in line even after polls have closed

Selena Gomez took to social media to share a video message for voters during the 2024 US elections. She posted the clip on X (formerly Twitter) as well as her Instagram Story. The 32-year-old said, “Hey guys, I hear that there are really, really long lines today.” Gomez continued, “I just wanted to make this video really quick to say please stay in the line.”

The singer added that even though long lines are “frustrating,” “annoying,” and “not fun,” people still need to use their voices and vote for their future. She added, “If you are in line before the polls close, stay in line. Even after closing, polls will stay open until everyone in that line has voted.” Gomez then stated, “If you are in line before the polls close, you have a legal right to vote. So please vote.”

While the 2024 elections took place on Tuesday, early voting was open across many US states. Selena Gomez was among many celebrities who opted to cast an early vote. The actor looked stunning in a red sequin gown as she headed out to vote ahead of attending the world premiere of “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” in Los Angeles. Gomez also documented her brief trip to drop her mail-in ballot for the presidential election in a TikTok video
