Cardi B Claps Back at Elon Musk for Teleprompter Jibe: ‘I’m Not a Puppet’

Cardi B has slammed Elon Musk for calling her a “puppet” following the teleprompter glitch during Kamala Harris‘ Milwaukee rally. An X (formerly Twitter) account shared a short video of Cardi B from the rally, criticizing her and calling the teleprompter ordeal “embarrassing.” Musk, the platform’s owner, also quickly commented on the video. Resharing the post, he quoted, “Another puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words,” describing Harris’ campaign as unauthentic and claiming it lacks “true empathy.” Later, Cardi B posted a response to Elon Musk’s teleprompter jibe, calling out the Tesla CEO for not knowing “one thing about the American struggle.”

In a bold reply to Elon Musk‘s criticism of the teleprompter glitch, Cardi B stated on X (formerly Twitter), “I’m not a puppet Elon.” The Grammy winner then wrote, “I’m a daughter of two immigrant parents that had to work their ass off to provide for me!” She called herself “a product of welfare,” “a product of section 8,” “a product of poverty,” and “a product of what happens when the system is set up against you.”

Cardi B also called out Musk for a lack of understanding regarding the complications that lower-class families face or anything “about the American struggle.” Lastly, Cardi B jabbed at him in a postscript remark, asking him to “fix my algorithm.”

Previously, Elon Musk had reshared a post on X, criticizing Cardi B’s teleprompter mishap during Friday’s Kamala Harris Milwaukee rally. The caption for the post, a short clip of the rapper’s delayed speech in support of the Democratic presidential nominee, called the ordeal “embarrassing.” Cardi B paused on stage due to the teleprompter glitch in the video. She addressed the crowd, “One second, guys. One second,” while pointing at the teleprompter and pausing.

Despite the initial roadblocks with the teleprompter, Cardi B stood her ground and spoke to the crowd about making history. The crowd cheered her on while she continued her speech about ensuring that “we gonna make sure we got Kamala Harris in office for eight years.” Shortly after, the 32-year-old was handed a phone to proceed with her speech.
