In an interview with Vogue, Carpenter and celebrity stylist Jared Ellner dissected several of her outfits, including a bodysuit and a catsuit. They also showcased the singer’s outfits, explaining how her “non-existent” waist helps her fit into bodysuits.

Sabrina Carpenter says it’s tough to perform in bodysuits

During a Vogue interview, Sabrina Carpenter and her stylist, Jared Ellner, talked about how they arranged for the outfits to be similar throughout the concert but with variations in colors, details, and a few accessories. This way, the singer remains aware of the outfits she has to wear for her acts while fans get to see “something new consistently.” The duo also discussed Carpenter’s opening act when she wears a towel only to reveal a corseted bodysuit before her performance.

Carpenter revealed that the idea of a towel was inspired by someone doing a similar reveal but with a jacket. The “Espresso” singer then talked about her corseted outfits, saying, “[They] are a little bit harder to dance in because there’s a certain stiffness to it. But my waist is non-existent, so we love her.” The singer-stylist duo revealed that the baby doll outfit Carpenter puts on mid-way through the performance helps her have no “insecurities” because the dress feels so “comfortable.”

They explained how the set design features changing lights and hues to give the idea that the events take place “through one night.” Carpenter revealed that the catsuit in the second act has been helpful with her movements on stage. The singer elaborated how she also tries “to make the visuals very meaningful in between” to aid the 2-minute wardrobe changes. For the third act, she talked about the skirt reveal for one of her songs. The artist recalled being inspired by an ABBA show and how she wanted their “own version” of the outfit.

Sabrina Carpenter shared that in a few of her shows, she would give a nod to the state teams by incorporating their T-shirt into her outfit. The duo ended the interview by giving fans a sneak peek into the Philadelphia concert outfits.
