English singer and former One Direction member Liam Payne passed away at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel’s balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Amid tributes from fans, family, and friends, the singer’s ex-fiancée, Maya Henry, has become a talking point in discussion online. A day before Liam Payne’s death, a podcast episode saw Henry reveal that he refused help from her.
Henry appeared on the new episode of “The Internet Is Dead” podcast, where she recalled her relationship with Payne. During the podcast interview, the Texan model shared that the former One Direction member started to get “abusive” after they got engaged.
Payne and Henry first made their relationship official on Instagram in 2019 and confirmed their engagement the following year. The pair appeared to have an on-off relationship, breaking up in 2021 and getting back together a few months later. However, they eventually parted ways for good in 2022.
Maya Henry claims One Direction singer would always message her
During the interview, Liam Payne’s ex, Maya Henry, also revealed the One Direction star would constantly send messages to her after they broke up. She shared her perspective, “I always felt like it was a manipulation tactic to keep me. I don’t know it’s kind of complicated, but I always felt like it was so that I could continue to feel bad for him.”
Henry said Payne continued messaging her since they broke up saying he was “not well.” She added, “He would always play with death and be like, ‘Well, I’m gonna die, I’m not doing well.'” Henry then recalled an instance when she tried to get Payne help, but she claimed he refused to take it.
The 23-year-old model also revealed that Payne would text her mother whenever she didn’t respond to his messages. Henry said, “It’s just always the same cycle.” When she announced her book, Payne allegedly called her mother and said, “I think I’m not I’m not going to be around much longer.” Henry continued, “I don’t play with death so I’m like, ‘If you say this I’m gonna try and help you no matter what you’ve done.'”
Liam Payne’s ex, Maya Henry, further claimed she was willing to help him if wanted to “go back to rehab.” She clarified that she didn’t want to get back with him, but “he’s still somebody’s child, he’s somebody’s brother.” Henry added that in the end, she felt like “it was a manipulation.” She further noted she couldn’t speak about the recent events “legally” but said, “It’s just gotten so much worse.”
According to PEOPLE, Henry issued a cease-and-desist order to Payne less than a week before his death.
