Kamala Harris sat for a Fox interview with Bret Baier that some commenters have branded an “ambush.” Harris’ interview with the network comes ahead of the 2024 presidential elections. Her campaign now aims to target uncertain voters who can potentially be swayed. During the interview, Baier attempted to throw sharp attacks at the vice president regarding the Biden administration’s immigration policies. The news anchor interrupted Harris multiple times as she offered direct explanations to his questions, but “she held her own.”
Kamala Harris praised for Fox News interview featuring edited Donald Trump clip
X (formerly Twitter) users are praising Kamala Harris now that she has “schooled” Fox News anchor Bret Baier while discussing immigration and other issues. Despite Baier’s interventions, the vice president got straight to the point, saying she appreciated he brought up the subject as it’s a “topic of discussion that people want to rightly have.” She addressed the country’s “broken immigration system” and laid out her administration’s plan to repair it.
As Harris attempted to answer questions during the Fox interview, Baier interrupted her several times. However, Harris promptly called out the anchor for not letting her finish the statement. “May I finish responding please,” she said during one such interruption. She then politely insisted, “You have to let me finish, please… I’m in the middle of responding to the point you’re raising and I’d like to finish.”
Harris had clear responses to Bret Baier’s concerns about “illegal immigrants” and violent crime. She promptly pointed out Donald Trump’s move to oppose a bipartisan border security bill from earlier this year. When Baier questioned her regarding President Joe Biden’s mental state, the presidential candidate called Trump “unstable” and brought up his behavior, which she said she believes is concerning.
Bret Baier later played an edited Donald Trump clip during the Fox interview which Kamala Harris quickly criticized. In the clip, Trump claimed to be a victim of the opposition’s propaganda and “weaponization of government.” Harris responded, “With all due respect, that clip was not what he [Trump] has been saying about the enemy within.”
Harris continued about how the former president has repeatedly “talked about turning the American military on the American people” and “going after people” peacefully protesting. Harris mentioned her political rival talking about “locking people up because they disagree with him.”
Adding to her comments on the Donald Trump clip, Harris stated, “This is a democracy. And, in a democracy, the president of the United States of America should be willing to be able to handle criticism without wanting to lock people up.” She then said, “This is what is at stake,” emphasizing her previous comment.
Many commenters on social media hailed Kamala Harris for standing her ground during the Fox interview and accused Bret Baier of ambushing her. An X (formerly Twitter) user lauded Harris for not “having any of it” and taking on Baier “on his home turf.” They then referred to her as the “future first female president of the United States.”
Many other commenters defended the network and Bret Baier. One user questioned whether the interview was “an ambush or just tough questions?” Another wrote that Baier only “confronted” her “with the truth.”
The presidential elections will take place on November 5, 2024.
