Liam Payne was found dead after he fell from third floor of a Buenos Aires hotel
According to BBC, police confirmed that Liam Payne died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Officials shared in a statement that the former One Direction singer’s body was discovered after an emergency crew responded to a call in the Palermo neighborhood.
Police shared the officers initially arrived at the scene responding to reports “of an aggressive man who may have been under the effects of drugs and alcohol.” However, upon reaching the hotel, they were informed of a loud sound that was heard inside a courtyard. Shortly after, police found Payne’s body at the location.
A police investigation has been launched and an autopsy will be carried out as Payne had suffered “serious injuries.” Alberto Crescenti, the emergency medical services director, reportedly refused to answer questions about the incident. The circumstances behind Payne’s fall from the hotel balcony are unclear at the time of writing.
Earlier this month, Payne was spotted at the Argentina concert of his former bandmate, Niall Horan. After One Direction split in 2016, the late singer made his solo debut the following year with the release of the hit single “Strip That Down.” Following that, Payne went on to boast a successful solo career. This year in March, the pop star also made his music comeback with the release of “Teardrops.”
Just hours before the tragic incident, Payne was active on Snapchat. He had shared a post saying, “It’s a lovely day here in Argentina.” Fans started gathering outside the Buenos Aires hotel after the news about his death broke. The internet is now flooded with tributes for the late star.
Payne is survived by his 7-year-old son, Bear Grey Payne, who he welcomed in 2017 with ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole.
