Why Jamie Lee Curtis’ Halloween Plans Are Not Very Halloween-y

Jamie Lee Curtis, the ultimate “Halloween” icon, is bowing out of the race, revealing her not-so-Halloween-y plans for this year. On October 5, Curtis exclusively spoke to PEOPLE, revealing the spooky season doesn’t involve any plans or decorations since “nobody” comes to her house anymore except for her neighbor. The Oscar-winner’s most prominent roles in horror classics include the “Halloween” movies.

Jamie Lee Curtis on Halloween plans: ‘I have hung up my butcher knives’

Jamie Lee Curtis is dishing her Halloween 2024 plans, and there’s nothing spooky about them as she doesn’t feel the “pressure” of the season anymore. While conversing with the outlet at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles 2024 Gala, Curtis claimed she has “retired” her pumpkins and no longer plans on putting up decorations this year. “I have hung up my butcher knives. I have stepped away from the vehicle,” she added. Curtis also said that she is “bowing gently to others who are taking up the mantle.”

Elaborating on her plans to put “nothing” for decorations this Halloween, the actor said, “Nobody comes by our house except my neighbor and we do that at like three o’clock.” She further explained that her children, Ruby and Annie, are now “old enough” and don’t want her “to decorate for them.” She then joked about “gently stepping into the darkness.”

Curtis, renowned for her roles in the “Halloween” movies, had previously told the publication, “You call me the Scream Queen.” At the time, she also disclosed that she scares “easily.” Curtis first appeared in the franchise over 45 years ago and bid a “satisfying” farewell to her role with a final installment in October 2022. With the films, director John Carpenter introduced the iconic character of Michael Myers to the world of horror and gore.

Although Jamie Lee Curtis doesn’t watch her own “Halloween” movies, they can be perfect to binge-watch around this time of the year.
