Texas School Staff Who Allegedly Gave Kids ‘Sleepy Stickers’ Placed on Leave Pending Investigation

A group of Texas school staff members has been placed on leave for allegedly giving students “sleepy stickers.” The stickers were, in fact, supplement patches designed for adults that contain ingredients that act as sleep aids. Several parents have come forward with claims that their children were given the patches, and the matter is currently being investigated by police.

Staff members were allegedly giving preschoolers “sleepy stickers” which were sleeping aid patches

According to KHOU-11, four Spring Independent School District staff members allegedly gave preschool students “sleepy stickers,” which turned out to be sleep aid patches. The first parent to discover the staff’s actions was Lisa Luviano, whose daughter Layne snuck one of the patches home. Luviano stated she thought the sticker was suspicious, but after some research, she discovered it was sold on Amazon and contained melatonin and other substances.

While Luviano reported the staff’s behavior to the school, she stated that other parents weren’t informed. School administrators allegedly declined to notify others even after Luviano reported that other students were also being given the patches.

Parents of other children being given the patches reported that their children displayed odd behavior. Najala Abdullah, for example, stated that her son had been crying more than usual and bringing home uneaten lunches. She also claims that his appetite had been poor at home.

A group of parents met with Spring Independent School District administrators earlier this week and were told not to discuss the allegations with others for fear it would “harm the investigation.”

After being contacted by KHOU-11, the school stated that the staff members identified to be involved had been immediately removed from the classroom and placed on leave pending investigation by the Spring ISD Police Department. The district stated that if the allegations prove true, then the following policy had been violated:

“No employee shall give any student prescription medication, nonprescription medication, herbal substances, anabolic steroids, or dietary supplements of any type, except as authorized by this or other District policy.”

Currently, no pending civil or criminal charges have been reported to be pending against the staff members.
