Star Baker Faces Death Threats Over Harris–Walz Cookies

Haley Popp, a star baker from Texas, is receiving backlash, hateful comments, and even death threats for selling Kamala Harris and Tim Walz cookies. Popp, who appeared on Food Network’s “Halloween Wars” in 2019, baked the Democratic Party-themed cookies on Tuesday ahead of the vice presidential debate.

The baker launched these Harris-Walz sugar cookies with blue frosting at her Flower Mound-based shop, Hive Bakery. She also shared a video of the baked goods on the store’s Facebook page. Hours later, she shared screenshots of the hateful comments she received in a separate post, calling out these “residents.”

Texas baker receives hate for cookies with Tim Walz and Kamala Harris’ photos

A renowned Texas baker named Haley Popp received a significant amount of hate for selling cookies with Tim Walz and Kamala Harris’ photos. Popp showed off the blue-frosting cookies on the Hive Bakery’s Facebook page in multiple posts, with some bearing Walz’s face while others featured Harris’ face. However, a few hours later, she revealed that she had faced backlash over the baked goods. Nevertheless, she continued dropping multiple batches, including gluten-free versions.

In a separate post, Popp revealed the bakery receives “tons of hateful messages and phone calls” every time they drop “liberal cookies.” The Kamala Harris and Tim Walz cookies were no different. In the caption, she expressed that she does not care about others’ opinions or their “unsolicited advice” on how she should run the business. The baker then thanked the people “who love our product, love our voice, and keep coming back for more.”

Following the post, Haley Popp continued dropping more batches of Harris and Walz cookies, which produced more hateful comments. Recently, the Food Network’s star baker posted a series of screenshots of the hateful comments and death threats she has been receiving over the Harris-Walz cookies. Popp called herself a “progressive, female business owner” and claimed the Hive Bakery faced a similar situation for running Pride cookies in June.

Popp also stated that she had reported the abuse and threats to the Flower Mound Police Department. In the same post, she also thanked her regular customers and others who backed her up for selling the Kamala Harris and Tim Walz cookies.
