Both waived spousal support after disputing and avoided a trial scheduled for later this year.
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan are moving on from lengthy divorce battle
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan are officially going their separate ways after a lengthy divorce battle. Dewan filed for divorce from Tatum in 2018 but only started disputing over his earnings from the “Magic Mike” franchise earlier this year. The mother-of-three argued during a divorce proceeding that they had together obtained “Magic Mike” intellectual property. She alleged that her estranged husband had then put the proceeds into “an irrevocable trust,” and without her consent, transferred its licensing rights to a third party.
E! News acquired these court filings in which Channing Tatum refuted Jenna Dewan’s claims. The documents stated that he said, “I have never denied Petitioner her share of any community assets or income. I have always agreed for Petitioner to have an interest in the Magic Mike intellectual property and related entities.” The multifaceted star mentioned that Dewan “had equal access to our business managers and financial records.” He asserted Dewan also had full “access” to their “financial records for all activities during our marriage and since separation.”
Per the document, Channing Tatum’s claims argued they obtained the “Magic Mike” intellectual property while married to Dewan. However, Tatum “has expended extensive efforts since separation towards the enhancement” of said property “and related entities.” He “contends” these additional efforts following their separation “give rise to his separate property interest therein.”
Additionally, Tatum noted that Dewan used these claims to “delay the processing of the case and increase the expense of litigation.” In August, he alleged that she had filed a motion to have his lawyers disqualified from working on the case to further delay the proceedings before their December divorce trial. He called the move a “transparent attempt to divert the Court’s attention” as she tried to “delay these proceedings.”
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan came to the mutual decision of waiving spousal support. Moreover, the former couple agreed to settle future proceedings concerning the custody of their daughter with a judge discreetly. Dewan is currently in a relationship with fiancé Steve Kazee, while Tatum is engaged to Zoë Kravitz.
