Mary J. Blige dating a new man and it’s been going well
On the September 23 episode of Sherri, Mary J. Blige opened up about her new mystery romance and moving past her public divorce with ex-husband Kendu Isaacs in 2018. The R&B icon talked about getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2024. She further expressed her desire to “probably not” retire anytime soon after paying heed to requests from fans.
While speaking about her public divorce, Blige revealed that she learned to forgive herself and not anyone else. She said, “What I’ve learned is that forgiveness was for me. So excuse me when I say this, The hell with them.” The artist further stressed not having to go through the bitter feeling once again.
The artist continued, “‘Cause that’s not mine. That belongs to you. You did what you did. But I have to move on and in order for me to feel good and to manifest all the good things in my life, I have to let go for me. Not for you, this is not for you. Trust me, this is not for you, this is for me.”
When the artist spoke about “walking in that joy,” host Sherri Shepherd asked if Blige was dating anyone. To this, the singer said, “You know already Sherri, everybody knows…Yes.” When asked further, Blige revealed that the relationship is going well, but didn’t reveal the man’s identity. She said, “I feel good about me. I look good to me. I feel good to me. And so, I’m embracing me. So when you embrace you, everything is embracing you. When you want you, everything wants you. Everything good.”
Previously in 2020, Blige appeared in an episode of Peace of Mind with Taraji. There, she expressed to the host Taraji P. Henson that she would be open to possibilities of romance. She said, “I’m not gonna deprive myself of living [and] I’m not gonna deprive myself of romance, if it ever shows up.” Previously, in January this year, Blige revealed that she is dating without further revelations about her boyfriend.
In 2016, Blige and former husband Kendu Isaacs parted ways after 13 years of marriage. The two went through a public divorce and eventually finalized their divorce in 2018. In the Sherri interview, the R&B icon announced her For My Fans tour in January 2025. Blige is also set to release her upcoming album Gratitude on November 15.
