Donald Trump Reveals What He Would’ve Done to Would-be Assassin

Former U.S. President Donald Trump did not hold back during his recent talk-show appearance on “Gutfeld!” His candid comments come days after a second assassination attempt against the Republican nominee amid his 2024 presidential run. Earlier this year, Trump suffered minor injuries after a shooting at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The second assassination attempt took place on Sunday, two months after the previous attack, as Trump golfed near his Florida club. The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, allegedly camped for nearly 12 hours outside the golf course in West Palm Beach. Authorities reportedly spotted a firearm poking out of the shrubbery, several hundred yards from where Trump was playing, on the golf course. An agent discharged his firearm after seeing the subject carrying a weapon, which appeared to be a rifle. Although Routh attempted to flee, he was eventually captured.

Donald Trump made an appearance on “Gutfeld!” days after the second attack made against him. Greg Gutfeld asked the 78-year-old former president, “Mr. P, how’s your golf game?,” to which Trump answered, “Well, I haven’t been thinking about it too much lately.” He continued, “I always said golf is a very dangerous game.” The host then jokingly agreed, “It really is. Especially if they’re playing with you.” Trump replied, “Yeah, it’s true,” and added, “It’s pretty sad.”

Gutfeld continued to ask Donald Trump, “If they had told you that the shooter was there, would you have tried to take him out with your 3 wood?” The Republican nominee said, “I think so, I think so. If I knew.” He continued, “Actually the Secret Service did a great job. They saw the barrel of a gun, big gun, and it came out through bushes. And how many people would see that?” Praising the agent, Trump remarked, “He really was very exceptional to have done it.”

The former president also recalled the two assassination attempts and said, “We’ve been going through a lot of it. We’re getting very good at it. But I don’t want to say that too loudly.” He added, “We don’t wanna bring any jinxes along.” When asked how he processes such attacks, he said that he has already made peace with the fact that “being president is a very dangerous job.”
