Why Diddy’s Alleged Baby Oil Usage Is Not a Good Idea, Experts Say

Fans have been shocked by Diddy‘s baby oil detailed in the indictment against him after his arrest in New York. According to court documents, law enforcement seized over “1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant” in their raids of Sean Combs’ residences in Miami, Florida, and California. These were part of “Freak Off supplies” that Diddy, who has been accused of sexual abuse in various lawsuits, allegedly used at parties held in hotels throughout the States. However, medical experts have many reasons why baby oil shouldn’t be used like this, despite the fact that this common skin care product is smooth and relatively inexpensive.

Why you shouldn’t use baby oil like P Diddy allegedly did

Baby oil shouldn’t be used the way that P Diddy allegedly did because it deteriorates the material of many condoms and can cause side effects for women.

This mineral oil chemically breaks down the latex and polyisoprene used in many condoms, causing it to break and rip, according to Planned Parenthood. The site recommends that people use water-based lubricants as opposed to oil-based lubricants, which includes butter, petroleum jelly, suntan lotion, and vegetable oil. That said, these oil-based lubricants are safe to use with condoms made out of nitrile, lambskin, or polyurethane.

Baby oil increases a woman’s risk of vaginal infection, as noted by Healthline, particularly when it comes to yeast infections. It’s also difficult to wash off and can become a nuisance to clean after sex, and it easily stains clothing and linens. In addition, as oil-based lubricants degrade latex and polyisoprene, baby oil can also damage sex toys made out of the same materials.

Trying to remove baby oil from the skin can also lead to irritation. Holly Madison, who dated Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, revealed that he would use baby oil as a lubricant and that she was “constantly irritated” as a result, per BuzzFeed. Her gynecologist told her to stop using baby oil, but when she told Hefner about it, he resisted and said that “people use baby oil on babies.” She says that Hefner ignored her please and continued to use baby oil in secret without telling her.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been charged in federal court in New York City with sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy. He was ordered held without bail on Tuesday, September 17. Combs has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
