The Harris-Walz friendship bracelets seem to be inspired by Taylor Swift’s endorsement, and its ad is a subtle reference to Swift’s song.
Soon after the ABC presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump ended, Taylor Swift extended her support to Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for the 2024 presidential election. She shared an Instagram post with a picture of herself with a cat, writing, “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”
The singer further added, “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.” Swift also showed her admiration for Harris’ running mate, Tim Walz, by writing, “I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”
Moments after that, the 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris’ campaign took to their official website to release Swift-inspired Harris-Walz friendship bracelets for fans to purchase. They advertised the bracelets with the greeting, “Are you ready for it? Harris-Walz friendship bracelets are here!” It is a subtle nod to Taylor Swift’s popular song “…Ready For It?” which shows Harris leaning in on Swift’s powerful endorsement.
