Miami-Dade bodycam clip reveals Tyreek Hill’s arrest
Miami-Dade Police bodycam video reveals the exact moment of Dolphins star Tyreek Hill’s arrest after officers pulled over his car. The incident occurred on Sunday morning, shortly before his season-opening game just outside the Hard Rock Stadium. According to CNN, Hill’s agent confirmed that he received a ticket for a moving violation after a traffic incident. Miami Dolphins also addressed the distressing event, alleging that it remains unclear why the police pulled him before the kickoff.
The video shows the Miami-Dade Police forcefully pulling Tyreek Hill out of his car during a traffic stop. The officers then hold him down to the ground in an escalated ordeal before handcuffing him. The viral clip also captured the wide receiver complaining of knee pain multiple times, screaming, “I just had surgery on my knee.” The following moments show one officer holding him in a chokehold and pulling him down on the sidewalk. The officers also prevented Hill’s friends who stopped nearby from helping him.
Miami-Dade Police officers also arrested one of Tyreek Hill’s teammates, Calais Campbell. The Dolphins defensive tackle spoke about the incident, claiming the officers handcuffed him when he tried to intervene and “de-escalate” the situation. In his statement, Campbell said, “They put handcuffs on me too, and I was like ‘What’s going on?’ I didn’t understand what the issue was. For him to put handcuffs on me, I felt some type of way.” The MDPD has since confirmed that the officers “temporarily detained” Campbell but released him “moments later without any further incident.”
In response to Tyreek Hill’s viral arrest video, the Miami Dolphins issued a statement on their X (formerly Twitter) account. It stated, “This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic incident about one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police.” The statement confirmed that the police have since released Hill. It further read, “Several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer support. Tyreek and all other players involved have safely arrived to the stadium and will be available for today’s game.”
The Miami-Dade Police Department has announced that they have placed an officer involved in the incident on administrative leave. MDPD Director Stephanie V. Daniels also reported that they have initiated an official investigation.
