During the interview, Selena Gomez talked at length about her bond with her boyfriend, Benny Blanco. The two have been friends for a long time and have even collaborated on music, including the 2015 song “Same Old Love” and the 2019 hit “I Can’t Get Enough.” Eventually, the friendship blossomed into love when the two began dating in July last year.
Speaking about Blanco’s presence in her life, Gomez told the outlet, “I’ve never been loved this way. He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life. He’s my best friend. I love telling him everything.” The singer further revealed that they weren’t rushing into a wedding. She said, “We always make sure we’re protecting what we have, but there’s no rules. I want him to always be himself. I always want to be myself.” Gomez also clarified that she wouldn’t be changing her name “no matter what.”
Meanwhile, the “Love On” singer reacted to Blanco’s conversation with Howard Stern in May 2024. When the host hoped that the couple would get married, Blanco said, “You and me both.” Smiling recalling this revelation, Gomez told the outlet, “He can’t lie. After the interview, I was dying laughing. Like, ‘Anything else you wanted to put out there?'”
Gomez also reflected on the hardships she faced when her parents divorced, expressing her intent to slowly take the step into marriage. The singer revealed that she cannot carry her own children due to medical issues that would affect her and her baby. However, although she confessed to grieving with this thought for a while, she also expressed hope with surrogacy and adoption as possible options for her in the future.
