Woman arrested for setting wildfires in Greece
Memezar revealed that the fire department confirmed the 44-year-old woman’s arrest since she set up the two fires in Greece. She allegedly committed the crimes hoping to watch the firefighters in action and flirt with them. Her presence at the scene of the incidents triggered suspicion, resulting in her ultimate arrest. Officers from the Police Department of Tripoli have not revealed the perpetrator’s name but confirmed that they arrested her on August 26.
The post stated that the woman received a “three-year suspended prison sentence” for causing the fires in Greece. Reportedly, this means she would not have to go to prison immediately. Additionally, the local court fined her €1,000 (approximately $1,106) besides handing her a prison sentence.
Fortunately, the wildfires only affected small plots of land, only causing minimal damage. The fire department quickly contained the flames and prevented them from spreading. The concerning incident occurred as the country already faces horrific wildfires in 2024.
