Adele Reveals Why She Chose Indefinite Career Break

Adele fans have been emotional after the singer announced an indefinite career break during her final residency show in Munich, Germany. The “Easy On Me” singer, whose full name is Adele Laurie Blue Adkins MBE, has been delivering heartfelt residency shows in the U.S. and other countries for a few years now. However, Adele recently announced a “long” hiatus ahead of her postponed Las Vegas residency shows in November. During her emotional speech, the 36-year-old artist explained that the break is partly so she can focus on her personal life.

Adele says she ‘needs a rest’ after announcing hiatus

TODAY reported that during her final Munich show, Adele delivered an emotional speech, announcing why she is taking an indefinite break. The “Someone Like You” singer revealed, “It has been amazing. I just need a rest.” She then added, “I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now.” Adele’s decision to focus on her personal life comes amid news of her rumored engagement to her long-term partner, Rich Paul. The announcement doesn’t seem sudden as she also has an 11-year-old son, Angelo.

Before listing her reasons, Adele announced that she has “exactly five weeks of shows. But after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time.” She emphasized how much she has “enjoyed performing for nearly three now,” adding this is the longest she has “ever done and probably the longest I will ever do.” She assured the crowd, “I will miss you terribly.”

Adele’s postponed Las Vegas residency shows will see her live performances in November before she goes on the long break. These shows were originally scheduled to happen in March. The mother-of-one started her residency in November 2022, a year after she dropped her fourth album, “30.” In fact, in January, she mentioned on stage, “I just don’t think I’m going to write an album for quite some time. But next time I do, I’ll come to wherever it is you live,” per TODAY.

Fans likely won’t be hearing from Adele for a long time because of the break she is taking. However, they can expect new music after her possible return.
