In a recent Instagram video, Armie Hammer opened up about his financial struggles after the cannibalism scandal. He talked about selling a pickup truck he bought for himself as a Christmas gift in 2017. The “Call Me By Your Name” actor said his decision to sell the vehicle came as he “can’t afford” gas, claiming he will be downsizing to a hybrid. Previously, in 2021, Hammer faced cannibal and abuse accusations after several women came forward to talk about their allegedly harrowing experiences with him.

Armie Hammer sells old car after cannibal accusations

Armie Hammer opened up about selling his old car in a recent Instagram video since being back in L.A. after cannibal accusations. The 38-year-old actor revealed he has put “four or $500 worth of gas in (the car), and I can’t afford it.” He claimed to have bought the pickup truck for himself as a gift at Christmas in 2017. The actor added that he has “loved this truck intensely and taken it camping and across the country multiple times and on long road trips, and I took it for one last road trip to CarMax.”

Talking further about the reason for selling his pickup truck, Armie Hammer mentioned how the car has been with him throughout. He said, “Kids home from the hospital and all that stuff… um.. amazing trips, amazing trips.” Hammer then added, “But you know what? That’s okay. I got a new car,” explaining it’s a hybrid. “I’m probably gonna put $10 bucks of gas in it a month… and, this is it,” he said.

Armie Hammer also spoke about additional changes he has made since returning to L.A. He talked about getting a “new apartment,” as reported by USA Today. The “Mirror Mirror” actor had been living in the Cayman Islands for the past couple of years and only moved back to the city a few weeks ago.

Besides “Call Me By Your Name” and “Mirror Mirror,” Armie Hammer’s acting credits include roles in “Death on the Nile,” “On the Basis of Sex,” “The Lone Ranger,” “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” and more. However, recent revelations suggest Armie Hammer’s professional career has taken a turn since the cannibalism controversy. Investigation Discovery’s documentary “House of Hammer” chronicled the cannibal accusations.
