By now, we’re all familiar with the downfall of Armie Hammer. The former golden boy of Hollywood who was riding high after his performance in Call Me By Your Name fell from grace after multiple women accused him of rape and perverse sexual fantasies including cannibalism.
A new Discovery+ documentary takes a deep dive into the actor’s disturbing history – and his family’s scandals.
“Armie Hammer’s alleged crimes are only the tip of the iceberg,” Discovery+ shared regarding the doc. “Through a trove of archive and interviews from survivors and family members, the dark and twisted secrets of the Hammer family come to light. Behind the money and power lies a dysfunctional dynasty with its male characters exhibiting all the devastating consequences of privilege gone wild.”
The first trailer for the film – which drops Sept. 2 – includes interviews with Hammer’s exes, like Julia Morrison, who shared strange sexual messages from him. One of his alleged fantasies involved “having someone prove their love and devotion and tying them up in a public place at night and making their body free use.”
In a voice recording Morrison shared, Armie Hammer apparently said, “My debt was going to involve me showing up at your place and completely tying you up and incapacitating you.”
Courtney Vucekovich also shared unsettling messages from Hammer in the documentary, including those that insisted, “You are mine! You hear me? I own you now. I’ll own you forever.” He also allegedly sent her images of ropes he wanted to use on her.
We can’t speak to the validity of these claims (though of course we are always on the side of “believe women”) but our curiosity is piqued.
