Like Marvel, the acquisition of Star Wars by Disney has yielded a ton of movies and TV shows. This means that many characters that might not have had a chance to shine, have been featured more prominently. Two prime examples are The Mandalorian and Boba Fett. They both have their own shows (and the two even intersect) and they prove that fans crave stories about lesser-known characters.
This makes us wonder what’s next. What other characters might get their own spinoff movie or television show? It’s hard to know where Disney will go with this broad universe of characters, but we know which ones we’d like to see. Keep scrolling to see seven Stars Wars characters that absolutely deserve their own spinoff.
7 Star Wars Characters Deserve Spinoff
-
R2 D2
This show or movie wouldn’t have a ton of talking. It would have a lot of beeps and random electronic sounds. Think a much darker, more exciting live-action version of Wall-E.
-
Chewbacca
Chewbacca is another character we’ve seen on the sidelines for far too long. Sure, we can’t understand what he’s saying. But we need a little back story about him and his origins.
-
Jar Jar Binx
This is a pretty divisive pick, but we believe that Jar Jar Binx deserves his own spinoff, if only to give us some background about why he’s the way he is and where he came from.
-
Lando Calrissian
There might not be a more complicated character in the Star Wars Universe than Lando Calrissian. We need more backstory as to what led to his betrayal of his friend Han Solo. Plus, he’d be played by Donald Glover again and that alone would be worth it.
-
Saw Gerrera
Maybe it’s just because he was played by the great Forest Whitaker in Rogue One, but Saw Gerrera deserves his own spinoff. He’s the leader of a group of rebel extremists and that could make for a pretty exciting show or movie.
-
Bo-Katan Kryze
Not only did she save The Mandalorian from a group of squid-looking fellas who want to kill him on an oceanic planet, but she’s also a total badass who deserves her own starring role.

Cobb Vanth
We already love Timothy Olyphant for Justified so when he showed up on The Mandalorian, we were pretty shocked. This awesome character deserves his own show.
