Fans of Keanu Reeves (and there are quite a few) have been waiting for this moment for years. The star of The Matrix and all of those John Wick movies is finally going to portray the Caped Crusader. Yes, you read that right. Keanu Reeves is going to play Batman. Sadly, it’s only as a voiceover in the upcoming DC League of Super-Pets, but it’s a start. He even said in a recent press tour that his dream would be to actually don the Dark Knight’s costume on the big screen.
And while Robert Pattinson is likely going to hold onto that spot for at least a little while, might we be lucky enough to one day see Reeves as the dark, brooding crime fighter? We hope so. And, if any producers are looking for motivation to cast him, we have 10 reasons why the Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure star would be the best Batman of all time. Keep scrolling to see them all.
Keanu Reeves Best Batman
-
He’s a total badass.
He’s already shown in multiple movies (including John Wick and The Matrix) that he has no problem kicking butt. His skills would definitely transfer to the Caped Crusader.
-
He wouldn’t need much training.
Batman is historically a well-trained fighter. Reeves wouldn’t even need much training to play him as he has a diverse martial arts background including Jiu-Jitsu, Wushu, karate, and even Krav Maga.
-
He’s got the stubble.
Any good Batman has a little bit of grit. Why not have a stubbly, grey-bearded Batman? What would be cooler than that? We can’t think of anything.
-
He’d probably visit children’s hospitals dressed as Batman.
Reeves is famous for anonymously donating large sums of money to children’s hospitals. We bet there’s a good chance that if he ever donned the Caped Crusader's costume, he’d wear it and visit a children’s hospital.
-
He’s a great actor.
On top of being a total badass, Reeves is a great actor who has tackled many different kinds of characters and genres throughout his career. Neo is almost a superhero already anyway.
-
He’s the anti-Bruce Wayne.
While Batman (or Bruce Wayne) is sometimes portrayed as a ladies’ man who borders on downright misogynistic, Reeves has a history of respecting boundaries when taking photos with women, going so far as to always keep his hands visible. He can make Batman more likable.
-
He doesn’t take himself too seriously.
Even though he’s one of the most famous actors in the world, he doesn’t take himself too seriously. That’s how he’s able to have silly cameos in movies, play kickass heroes, and even bring back a popular time-traveling surfer bro. He’d definitely knock this role out of the park too.
-
He probably won’t even charge that much.
While other big-name actors have histories of charging ridiculous amounts of money for roles, Reeves has a history of taking pay cuts to be in movies he’s excited about.
-
Everybody loves him.
While fans often get angry or annoyed when the wrong actor is picked to play a superhero, there are few actors more beloved than Reeves. The internet might explode with excitement if it was announced that he’d be playing Batman.
-
He wants to be Batman.
He’s said in interviews that he wants to play Batman. What better reason is there? Come on, let’s get this thing going. Sorry Pattinson, we want Keanu.
