Watch New York Yankee Jose Trevino React to the News That He’s Playing the 2022 All-Star Game

There are few honors so gratifying in the wide world of baseball than being named an All-Star – and New York Yankee Jose Trevino knows it. The 29-year-old catcher got very emotional when he found out he can now add that honor to his impressive resume.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone was the one who gave Trevino the good news – on camera, no less.

“You 100 percent deserve this,” Boone told Trevino. “You’ve been so good, in every way, brother. You’re a major league All-Star. No one will ever be able to take that away from you.”

At first, the MLB player couldn’t believe it.

“Holy shit, you’re serious?” Trevino asked Boone. “I had no clue, I was like, ‘I’m probably not gonna go [to the All-Star game], just take my three days, I was actually gonna go buy a car in Texas, like holy shit. You’re serious, right?”

“You’re going to L.A., brother,” Boone responded. “Dodger Stadium.”

“If you would’ve told me a year ago I wouldn’t have believed you,” Trevino said. “A New York Yankee and an All-Star? I wouldn’t believe you.”

Well, he better believe it, because he’s going.

Congratulations poured in on Twitter in the comments section of the video, which has over 16.8K likes as of this writing. Everyone from Derek Jeter to Trevino’s cousin had encouraging words for the pro athlete.

Now, he’ll have to perform. See what Trevino and all the other All-Stars can do when the All-Star game takes place on Tuesday, July 19, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
