We get it. Summer is beautiful, sunny, and warm. It’s the greatest, most exciting season for much of the country. It’s a season filled with days at the lake, yard games, backyard grilling paired with refreshing beers, and seemingly endless sun-filled days. But sometimes you need a respite from the beautiful, sunny weather and you just want to sit inside with the shades drawn, huddled under a blanket, blasting central air conditioning while you binge-watch movies from sunup to sundown.
There are countless streaming services offering pretty much any movie you could ever want to see (including many that are still in theaters). But if you really want to get the most out of your summer viewing experience while not feeling like you’re missing out on an actual exciting summer, you’ll watch a few adventure movies.

This 1984 film centers around a boy named Bastian who goes into a bookstore to avoid some bullies and finds a book. He takes the book to school and hides in the school’s attic to read it and becomes immersed in an epic fantasy world.

'The Last of the Mohicans'
Film fans might know Daniel Day-Lewis for his more contemporary, iconic roles. But back in 1993, he starred in The Last of the Mohicans, a movie about a half-white Native American and his brother attempting to save the kidnapped daughters of a British Colonel during the French and Indian War.

'Raiders of the Lost Ark'
The first Indiana Jones movie finds the world-traveling archeologist attempting to stop a group of Nazis from finding a religious artifact that could spell the end of the world. Also, there’s a famous scene with a lot of snakes.

Nicolas Cage stars in this action-packed movie about a historian and code-breaker who is searching for a treasure that’s been missing since the colonial era of the US. Classic Nic Cage humor and twist and turns ensue.

'The Goonies'
One of the most nostalgic '80s movies of all time, The Goonies is centered around a group of kids in Astoria, Oregon, who find a pirate map and go on an exciting adventure in hopes of finding pirate gold.

'Back to the Future'
This epic comedy adventure spans multiple decades thanks to time travel. Marty McFly inadvertently travels from the 1980s to the 1950s and must make sure his parents end up together or else he and his siblings will cease to exist.
