Toronto Blue Jays Fan Punches Cop on Opening Day, Take Me Out of the Ball Game, Officer (Video)

These days, brawls among baseball fans have become part of the sport’s experience, just like hot dogs, cold beer, and Cracker Jacks. In fact, if you go to a baseball game and don’t see a brawl that later goes viral on social media, was it really worth going to? We think not.

Since we can’t hit up every baseball game in the hopes of witnessing a beat-down firsthand, we’ll have to settle for rubbernecking vicariously through the internet. The latest fisticuffs exchanged at a Major League Baseball game happened at Rogers Centre in Toronto, where the Blue Jays were playing their first Opening Day since 2019.

Reports say that a man and a woman had a little too much to drink and got into a physical altercation with other baseball fans in the 500 level of the arena. They were supposed to be escorted out. Viral videos show a young woman being led down the stadium’s stairs by police. At one point, it appears that a random man shoves her and she seems to stumble down a few stairs. She turns around, aghast and angry, then throws a punch, which lands on a female cop’s face.

From there, things move quickly. The female cop drags her up a stair or two, flips her over, and with the help of a security guard, cuffs her while holding her against the concrete stairs.

Here’s the whole incident from another angle:

All we know about the disorderly fan is that she’s 27 and a Toronto resident. She’s been arrested and is now facing charges of assaulting a police officer and being intoxicated in a public space. Meanwhile, the man involved was not charged with anything. As for the Blue Jays? They beat the Rangers 10-8, so not everyone turned out to be a loser in this scenario.
