Morbius’ Director Addresses Negative Reviews With Hilarious Response

Morbius may be one of the worst movies of the year, but the press tour for the film is the gift that keeps on giving. For those who are unaware, Morbius stars cult leader turned actor Jared Leto, who plays a scientist with a rare blood disease that inadvertently turns himself into a “living vampire.” The long-delayed film received a 16% on rotten tomatoes, making it one of the worst Marvel films ever released. Now, the film’s director, Daniel Espinosa, has responded to the criticism of Morbius in the most hilarious way possible.

“When I did my first feature, it was a small movie called Babylon Disease. I remember one day going home on the subway and I had a few drinks so I was a bit drunk. Someone nudged me on the train and said ‘I have to tell you what’s wrong with the second scene in your feature.’ And I was like, ‘Well okay.’” Espinosa said. Everyone is a critic these days. 

The director continued, “The point I’m making is that it’s a strange thing to make something that is so public. Look, I have a lot of self-hatred so I have a lot of criticism of my own work.” Ditto, dude. Espinosa added, “I’m always trying to focus on being better. But I am also proud of what I do. There are parts in all my movies that I’m really proud of.”

As it turns out, we too have a lot of self-hatred for even attempting to watch Morbius. You’ll notice that Espinosa stays away from saying that he is proud of Morbius specifically, which tells us that even the film’s director is distancing himself from this studio abomination. In all seriousness, Espinosa is an interesting director who was forced to work with an accused sex offender and general sex pest Jared Leto. For those who are somehow still interested, Morbius is currently in theaters.
