Sports Fan Who Bought Tom Brady’s ‘Last Touchdown’ Football For $500K Experiencing Serious Buyer’s Remorse

We’ve all experienced buyer’s remorse. Maybe you splurged on a sofa that looked better on the showroom floor than it does in your living room. Maybe you decided to give those bespoke sweatpants a try, only to discover they don’t flatter your body type. Or maybe you thought it was high time you got some Rogaine, and then all your hair fell out (that’s never happened to us, we swear). Regardless, that deep sense of regret you have over your purchase, coupled with anger over the money wasted, is one that’s familiar to many.

But none has felt buyer’s remorse so keenly as whoever purchased Tom Brady’s “last touchdown pass” football…the day before the seven-time Super Bowl champ unretired.

The unnamed sucker spent a jaw-dropping $518,628 on the ball. Bidding had started out at $100,000 and skyrocketed from there.

“If there is any item in the field of sports collectibles that needs no embellishment, it is this historic piece: the final touchdown ball of Tom Brady’s career,” auction house Lelands wrote of the ball.

As the whole world now knows, Brady announced his return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers less than six weeks after going into retirement. He’ll be back this fall for his 23rd season in the NFL…and there will be many more touchdown pass footballs to come.

Perhaps this is a timely reminder that just because you can buy something doesn’t mean you should. That once priceless keepsake is now just another overpriced piece of sports equipment.
