Mandatory Movies: Robert Pattinson Reveals Emo Batman, All the Signs Were There All Along

After much speculation, Robert Pattinson has revealed that his Batman is indeed a sad boi. That’s right, Robert Pattinson’s Batman is officially emo. Anyone who has seen a single frame of The Batman probably assumed this. Now, the actor has all but confirmed that his version of Batman is pretty much a total loaner in a new GQ profile.

The character of Batman has always been kind of a loaner, but Pattinson’s comments only make his interpretation only sadder. The actor said, “It’s a sad movie. It’s kind of about him trying to find some element of hope, in himself, and not just the city. Normally, Bruce never questions his own ability; he questions the city’s ability to change. But I mean, it’s kind of such an insane thing to do: The only way I can live is to dress up as a bat.”

He also believes that “DC is the kind of emo comic,” because many of the publisher’s stories are sad and nihilistic. Sounds about right. While this loaner mentality is nothing new for a Batman movie, what becomes apparent from his comments is how desperate to fit in with the emo crowd his version of the character actually is.

Pattinson added, “it’s sort of implied that he’s had a bit of a breakdown. But this thing he’s doing, it’s not even working. Like, it’s two years into it, and the crime has gotten worse since Bruce started being Batman.” Ironically enough, the same could be said for Pattinson’s unsuccessful attempt to make the Twilight franchise more emo.

Most importantly, Pattinson confirmed that his version of Bruce Wayne jerks off “too much”. He added, “he’s doing 2, 3 times a day sometimes.” If we were romantically involved with Zoe Kraviz’s Selena Kyle, we would too. While The Batman is intended to start a new shared universe of projects, they would definitely be better off by featuring more horny superheroes.
