Courtesy of COVID-19, San Diego Comic-Con and all other major 2020 conventions were either canceled, delayed, or morphed into virtual events. Therefore, Warner Bros. and DC seized the day and created their own virtual convention dubbed DC FanDome, showcasing everything from comic books, animations, and video games to live-action television shows and, of course, movies. The event was a massive success, which tricked the masses into believing WB/DC have any idea what they’re doing with the DCEU. Since most of what was teased has yet to see the light of day, this brings us to DC FanDome: Year 2.
Considering the effect the latest Dark Knight has had on the internet, it might as well have been called The Batman Fandome 2021. Robert ‘The Patman’ Pattinson led the onslaught of trailers, which actually included some “look at what we’re working on!” behind-the-scenes featurettes rather than actual trailers. That being said, here are the best trailer(s) from DC FanDome 2021.

7. 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' - December 16, 2022
DC FanDome’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom segment did not unveil any actual footage from the sequel. Instead, it showed off concept art, BTS, interviews, training, and stunt sequences. The teaser primarily featured Jason Momoa, director James Wan, and, for obvious reasons, showed as little of Amber Heard as possible—the half a second you see above is all there is of the one and only Mera. Blink and you’ll miss her.

6. 'DC League of Super-Pets' - May 20, 2022
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is poised to take over the DCEU (or at least that’s what he keeps saying). His first DC outing will be as Krypto the Super-Dog in the family-friendly animated feature DC’s League of Super-Pets, otherwise known as Secret Life of Pets 3. The film also stars Kevin Hart as Ace the Bat-Hound, Vanessa Bayer, John Krasinski, Diego Luna, Natasha Lyonne, Kate McKinnon, and Keanu Reeves. Does The Rock own Kevin or does Kevin own The Rock? They’re in everything together.

5. 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' - June 2, 2023
Following WB’s many missteps concerning the DCEU/Justice League, 2019’s Shazam was the first truly decent DC film in quite some time. The sequel, the enthusiastically-titled Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ will see the return of Zachary Levi as Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) super-powered alter ego. Joining him will be the entire Shazam family along with Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu playing villains Hespera and Kalypso, the daughters of Atlas. West Side Story’s Rachel Zegler will also star in an “unknown role,” but she’s probably playing an undercover villain who will ultimately have a change of heart. Similar to that of Aquaman and the Last Sequel (if they don’t recast Amber Heard), this teaser mostly featured some concept art, BTS footage, and not a single hint of Black Adam—who will surely be teased in some way, shape, or form.

4. 'Black Adam' - July 29, 2022
The Rock has been hyping his long-awaited debut as Black Adam as a definitive moment that will forever change the hierarchy of power in the DCEU. He’s actually said “the hierarchy of power is about to change” more times than we can count. Unfortunately, Black Adam seems determined to introduce a slew of secondary characters in the Justice League of Society—the film's attempts at jumpstarting the DCEU may bog it down. Also, it's not R-rated? It should be. The first teaser unveiled at DC FanDome showed off The Rock’s first scene as the character, and it’s electric. Literally. Hopefully, he’s a villain all the way through, paying homage to the days when it didn’t matter what we thought.

3. 'Peacemaker' - January 13, 2022
If you haven’t seen James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, spoiler alert: John Cena’s douchey Captain America survives and is now needed to “save the fucking world.” His self-titled spin-off series on HBO Max will explore Peacemaker's origins via the past and present as he works with Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), and John Economos (Steve Agee) to do...stuff. The series' official trailer doesn’t make it clear what is actually on the docket. However, it does make it clear that Cena has daddy issues, wears whitey tighties, and believes Taiwan is not a country.

2. 'The Flash' - November 4, 2022
The upcoming The Flash, starring Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen/Flash, will loosely adapt the comic book storyline Flashpoint, which sees its hero using “Speed Force” to alter the timeline and change his tragic past. So, basically, WB/DC is using this film as an excuse to copy the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s recent obsession with the multiverse and bring back popular characters from franchises of old. The Flash will feature Michael Keaton’s Batman, which is hands down the most anticipated thing about this film and, in turn, the most exciting thing about DC FanDome’s teaser.

1. 'The Batman' - March 4, 2022
The Batman dropped its second trailer at DC FanDome 2021, and holy bulletproof batsuit Batman! Matt Reeves’ reboot of the caped crusader will follow Pattinson as a younger Bruce Wayne/Batman ala Batman: Year One, exploring a very corrupt Gotham plagued by criminals including an unrecognizable Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman, and Paul Dano’s The Riddler. While we never see the latter’s face in the trailer, he is at its center, riddling his way through the chaos. Overall, The Batman’s trailer is in a completely different league than everything else on this list. No one thought they could beat last year's trailer but they did. Michael Giacchino’s score is perfect and the cinematography is next level—from upside-down bats to hallway fights reminiscent of Rogue One. It's the sort of thing one watches over and over.
