Sorry to break it to you, Robin, but Batman is not a “one sidekick kind of guy.” The Caped Crusader’s latest partners-in-fighting-crime are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
While the title of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, DC Entertainment, and Nickelodeon’s cartoon crossover is being billed as Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we will bet a dozen extra-large everything pizzas that the two sides will initially square off but eventually team-up to take down a rogues’ gallery of villains.
The animated movie is based on 2015’s popular six-issue miniseries comic book by James Tynion IV and Freddie Williams II. We’re digging the throwback ’90s animation from the trailer, which features cameos from some of our favorite characters from both worlds.
Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is just the latest crossover, a niche genre in and of itself. Seeing beloved characters in other fan-favorite sandboxes sounds good on paper but often never lives up to what we envision. Here’s a GIF gallery of on-screen crossovers over the years.
