So the winner for Get Out versus Us — by a clear victory — goes to Get Out! Jordan Peele’s new project is a movie that will leave audiences thinking and discussing for a long time, but doesn’t quite live up to his directorial debut. It’s understandable though, as the bar was set mighty high.

Lead Role
Daniel Kaluuya's role in Get Out garnered him an Oscar nomination, so the competition was fierce. While an Oscar nomination probably won't be in the works for Lupita Nyong'o, (who already won an Oscar for her role in 12 Years A Slave) she absolutely shines in a dual role for the Us.
Winner: Us

Supporting Cast
While Lupita Nyong'o won a close race for the lead, the supporting cast on Get Out completely blows the supporting cast of Us out of the water. From awkward parents to the creepy domestic staff to the monstrous people at the auction, there wasn't much of a competition here.

Story
Us is a frightening tale that's hard to describe without spoiling. (You can watch the trailer here.) But it sets up a bunch of loose ends, leaves tons for you to speculate, and goes for a more open-ended story. Get Out, on the other hand, is a contained movie with most plots resolved directly. Plus, you'll never look at hypnosis the same way again.

Horror Factor
While both movies are scary, Us decides to go the distance. Much more gore and horrific images make Get Out seem almost tame in comparison. We didn't get scared at either of them, though, because we're very brave and we're not scared of anything. Ahem.

Social Commentary
The "You know we would have voted for Obama for a third term" from Get Out has become apart of the cultural landscape, spawning memes all over social media. Jordan Peele showed audiences what it was like to be on the receiving end of pseudo-woke white people's nonsense. While Us certainly involves social allegories, it has significantly less to say, and in a less focused way.
