Pat Kingsley, a very prominent Hollywood publicist who represented Tom Cruise for over a decade but was fired last spring after she urged him to tone down his pro-Scientology rambling, has quietly agreed to represent Brooke Shields, in what many insiders are interpreting as a slap at her former client. Since being fired and replaced by Cruise’s sister, who is also a Scientologist, a source says “Pat’s been pretty upfront about her disdain for Cruise. This will drive him absolutely crazy.”
Though Kingsley usually restricts her client list to A-List superstars like Al Pacino and Warren Beatty, the publicist insists that her decision to take on Shields is nothing notable. “She’s in show business and we represent people in show business,” Kingsley says. Shields, of course, has been linked with Cruise in the headlines for months now after Cruise attacked her on the Today show for taking medicines prescribed to battle her postpartum depression.
Pat Kingsly is clearly the world’s greatest at whatever it is she does exactly, cause she seems to have been able to hide Cruise’s doofusness for ten years. Now, Hollywood can’t control him any more than Roy could control that tiger. I think we all know that if this guy wasn’t rich, he would be carted around by his mom in the back of a mini-van in a four-point harness and a helmet.
update – a few quick Tom Cruise related notes here: Billy Crudup has been added to the cast of Mission Impossible 3, which you could read about on the MI3 website that went live yesterday if there was anyhting on it. While it is blank right now, Tom Cruise wanted it to yell at people who got sick, so at least it doesn’t do that.
