Martellus Bennett and his brother Michael have been dealing with their share of credibility issues after a turbulent 2017, and it appears as though one of them isn’t done stirring the pot just yet.
According to Packers News, Martellus was a guest on a Bleacher Report podcast hosted by Chris Simms and Adam Lefkoe last week, and the former Packers, Bears, Patriots and Giants tight end said he believes 89 percent of NFL players are smoking the herb.

Simms chimed in that he also believed marijuana use amongst pro football players was high (pun intended), but he capped his guess at 80 percent. Still, four out of five players turning to the wonder drug, especially when it’s banned by the NFL, is rather alarming.
Just why are so many players turning to weed these days? Sure, getting high is a ton of fun and totally worth it most of the time, but Bennett says the majority of the players are doing it because of the pain relief it provides.

“There are times of the year where your body just hurts so bad,” Bennett said. “You don’t want to be popping pills all the time. There are anti-inflammatory drugs you take so long that they start to eat at your liver, kidneys and things like that. A human made that. God made weed.”
Based on his track record, you can go ahead and put that down as the smartest thing Martellus Bennett has ever said. In fact, it might be the only worthy thing that has ever come out of his mouth.
