Every so often a horror film comes up that is packed with a ton of hype. Some of the most recent ones I can remember is the original Paranormal Activity, The Witch and of course, It. But now there’s a new movie that everyone seems to be freaking out over, and it’s simply called Hereditary.
The film, which stars Toni Collette and Gabriel Byrne, already has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it’s getting some big time buzz, with everyone saying it’s one of the scariest films in recent memory.
HEREDITARY: a Grand Guignol FISTS IN THE POCKET or, if you will, Nicolas Roeg’s THE AMITYVILLE HORROR. Can not recall the last time I have seen an audience contorted into such spasms of anxiety and terror by a single movie. Absolutely exhilarating. @A24 @Palmstar

HEREDITARY is one of the most unnerving, stressful and downright horrifying movies I have ever seen. Filled with real terror that will shake your soul and an amazing performance from Toni Collette. Absolutely shook right now. #Sundance #Sundance2018 #NBPSundance

HEREDITARY isn’t just the freakiest thing I’ve seen in ages, but by far the most emotionally upsetting. Never feels like a tease; every scare has a very cruel purpose. Toni Collette astonishes. Couldn’t have asked for a more satisfying end to my #Sundance2018.

That’s right, kids, that’s the buzz from Sundance, where the film premiered a few days ago, but see the trailer for yourself:
That little girl was enough to freak me out, so I can imagine how scary the rest of the movie is.
Hereditary follows the Graham family and their unraveling when their reclusive grandmother, Ellen, passes away. Soon after, a lot of freaky stuff start happening to the family and hell ensues.
You’ll have to see the film for yourself to determine if it’s scary as all hell or if it’s all hype.
