Remember when we told you about a pastor who attempted to walk on water only to be eaten by crocodiles? Well the folks in the video below weren’t as unlucky as people of all ages have been “walking on water” thanks to a pretty awesome substance.
That substance? Well it’s simply a mix of water and cornstarch. This substance demonstrates the properties of non-Newtonian fluids. Non-Newtonian fluids are solid if you apply a sudden force and liquid if you apply a steady, slow force.
According to Business Insider, in the mix, “there are tiny cornstarch particles evenly distributed. When a steady slow force is applied, the particles have time to move out of the way. So the object slides through, as it would in a liquid.” So when a sudden force is applied, these particles don’t have time to move out of the way so the object is stopped, becoming a sort of solid surface.
And this is the result:

As long as you keep applying high force to the substance you can do whatever you want on it. Pretty damn awesome. And I think this tweet describes this the best:
Look at all them Jesuses.
