Grab yer Eggos, because the Sydney Opera House is chucking a free Stranger Things party to celebrate the world premiere of Season 2, turning all our frowns ~Upside Down~.
Not only will the SOH be screening episode one of the new season of the cult series at the exact same time as its global LA premiere (and hours before it drops on Netflix), they’re going all out with a demogorgon-sized extravaganza.
The venue is getting a full-blown ’80s makeover, with its Northern and Southern Foyers set to be “completely transformed” into the world of Hawkins circa 1984.
There’ll be a banging ‘80s soundtrack blasting out of the PA; arcade games, including pinball machines and air hockey; themed food, including Benny’s Burgers; and fans are naturally being encouraged to dress up accordingly.
No word if a few games of D&D are on the agenda, but here’s hoping.
“The Duffer Brothers have created a pitch perfect homage to ‘80s celluloid legends like Spielberg and Steven King that delivers the perfect shot of suspense and nostalgia,” says Sydney Opera House Head of Contemporary Performance, Danielle Harvey.
“We are thrilled to present the world’s biggest Stranger Things fan event as part of the Opera House’s Contemporary Performance program – a home for visionary storytelling in popular culture.”
Tickets are FREE but obvs will be snapped up quicker than Barb from a backyard swimming pool.
What, too soon?
It’s all going down at the Opera House on Friday, 27th October, with two three-hour blocks from 10:30am and 12pm, including the screening and entry to the Stranger Things-themed foyers.
