There is a long, storied tradition of phallic imagery and other such innuendo in children’s movies, particularly Disney films. But at the very least, they’ve always been somewhat on the sly about it, which is why there are so many articles and videos on the internet dedicated to pointing such subliminal messaging out.

Sadly, it appears one Netflix kid’s show animator didn’t get the memo, and could be paying dearly for it in the near future.

Penis Drawing In Netflix Kid’s Show Could Bring Legal Action Against Animator

Above is a screenshot posted by Twitter user Desmond Gibbs from an episode of Maya the Bee which was recently pulled from Netflix due to a blatantly obvious dong painted on a wall in plain sight. Seriously, circling it is above and beyond unnecessary.

The outrage all started early this week when one mother by the name of Chey Robinson posted the following video to her Facebook page, prompting swift action from Netflix:

Of course, pulling the episode wasn’t enough. Now, Netflix has taken the entire series down, and French production company Studio 100 — the studio behind Maya the Bee — has issued an apology:

“An absolutely inappropriate image has been discovered in a four-second fly-by scene in one episode of the total of 78 episodes of the series. […] The origin of this image obviously results from a very bad joke from one of the 150 artists working on the production.”

Pointing out that its four seconds in a total of 78 episodes seems like a bit of a backhanded sorry, but they’ve since doubled down, promising “legal action has already been started” against the rogue artist.

Really gives new meaning to the expression “the birds and the bees,” doesn’t it?
