If you thought that story of the golden retriever giving birth to a green puppy was cool, you’re going to dig this story of white giraffes being caught on film for the first time ever.
Two giraffes with a rare genetic condition called leucism, a condition which makes their fur white, were actually spotted and filmed for the first time ever in Kenya. The condition results in a lack of pigmentation skin cells, scales, fur and feathers, and makes animals who have the condition appear white.
The video was taken by the people at Hirola Conservation Program after they were tipped off by locals. Take a look at the awesome video below to see these two giraffes.
Here’s what the Hirola Conservation Programme had to say about this rare find.
“They were so close and extremely calm and seemed not disturbed by our presence. The mother kept pacing back and forth a few yards in front of us while signaling the baby giraffe to hide behind the bushes.”

Aside from this awesome sighting, there have only been two other known sightings of giraffes with the same condition, one in Kenya and one in Tanzania.
Here’s hoping that they can keep these giraffes safe and away from poachers.
